Getting started

Director is the default mode on the generate screen. Start from a blank prompt, or one of the starter chips: "Editorial rooftop shot at golden hour," "Clean studio product shot on seamless white," "Moody nighttime streetwear campaign," or "Now make a 6-second video of the last shot." You can attach characters and products with @ the same way you would in the composer, and an Image/Video toggle switches what it produces.

What happens after you send a message

An Approach selector defaults to Auto, which lets the Director recognise the kind of shot you're describing and handle it accordingly, or you can pick a specific approach yourself. While it works, you'll see a short task timeline ticking through each step, followed by a badge naming the approach it used.

For most requests, it goes straight to generating. For higher-stakes formats, it stops first and shows you a plan, a short card describing what it's about to make, with an Approve & generate button. Nothing is spent until you approve, and you can also just reply with changes instead.

Under the hood, briefly

The Director picks the model itself and checks its own output before showing it to you, so you don't need to make those calls yourself. It resumes your most recent conversation automatically when you come back to the generate screen.

When to use Director instead of Advanced

Reach for Director when you'd rather describe the outcome than assemble it, or when you're not sure which camera, lens, or model combination would get you there. Switch to Advanced when you want to override one specific decision, like locking a particular lens, rather than restate the whole shot.
